new song: the van is not expected to make it through the night (new recording)

This is a proper recording of the new one from last week, from late Friday, now with 100% more vocals and a bit of my patented "hobo with a cigar-box and a gum band" lead guitar.

the van is not expected to make it through the night

just drive on by | don't turn around
that's just our hopes and dreams | run into the ground

when you call out | don't be alarmed
if no one answers | no one comes
there are so many | pressing affairs
what's one more van | on the berm in Delaware
nothing
just one more band
ain't going anywhere
anywhere at all

walk on foot | to the turnpike rest stop
collecting change | for the pay telephone

if you pick up | don't be alarmed
i'm all right | free from harm
what's a dream | just a useless affair
there's no grand scheme | on the berm in Delaware
nothing
just one more man
ain't going anywhere
anywhere at all

the van is not expected to make it through the night (video demo)

So instead of waiting the five minutes for all non-essential services to shut-down on the laptop so I could use Sonar, I recorded this on the webcam instead. Prepare for awesome sound quality.

Mainly I just wanted to make sure I didn't forget this between now and tomorrow night.

wayfaring stranger

Enjoy our (striped maple hollow) take on the classic Wayfaring Stranger. This was one of our living room demos from last summer, soon to be pressed into service to get us back on track, living the the dream, and playing live music every month or two.

new song demo: Solomon Town

New song from the past couple of weeks, reinforcing my tendency to have a good new song hit when I'm trying to bear down and finish and old one.

Solomon Town

the good Lord looked down / on Solomon town and he
made a list of his options

he saw no man righteous / within those stone walls
just the weak, and the timid, and cautious

don't forget us now
we need saved somehow
could you please at least
drag the last body out?

we traded our peace / in his presence above
for the seal of the ruler in office

he came for our women / and stared at our girls
with the zeal of a stud bull at auction

don't forget us now
we need saved somehow
could you please at least
drag the last body out?
and burn us all in a pile
